Sangil: Art Tugade didn't resign

THE GUY -- President Ramon Magsaysay died in a plane crash almost 58 years ago. He was one the most loved presidents of our country. His love and care for the poor was well received by his countrymen. And there was the quote I distinctly remember. That quote was said most often by the late Pampanga Governor and Angeles City Mayor Francisco G. Nepomuceno during his campaign sorties and when addressing the crowd of mostly poor people. This is the quote: 'People who less in life should have more in law'. But until today this beautiful lines remained as a quote.

The rich, famous and influential persons in our country are landing in jail. We bow to that. It was unthinkable in the earlier years tha the likes of Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Bong Revilla and Jinggoy Estrada will be languishing in jail. Add Janet Napoles and other big fishes like Prospero Pichay and the very wealthy Gatchalian families being charged. Some governors and congressmen too.

And while we send the scoundrels to where they should be, let's focus some attention to the many poor and unlettered people who have been in jails because they lack the means. Many spent years already being locked up and their cases not being heard. And even if reaches the courts, they can only expect legal representation from pro bono lawyers appointed by the courts and their cases may not be carefully studied and well handled. Magsaysay must be restless in his grave.

PACMAN -- May 3 in our country will also be a "National Day of Prayer." Prayers can move mountains as we often say. The prayerful Filipinos, of course may not be going to the church to pray but deep in their hearts and minds will say a little prayer for Manny 'PACMAN' Pacquiao's victory. And that's in behalf of the Filipino people. And I think our collective prayers plus the skills of the Pambansang Kamao can chase to the corner Floyd Mayweather and floor him so that the big mouthed Negro boxer will kiss the canvas and travel to dreamland.

KIM HENARES -- It seems to me the hardworking Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Kim Henares is lacking in sensitivity when she kept discussing in media interviews about Pacquiao's possible tax due in case no payment will be made to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) of the United States. The timing is so bad and lousy. And can President Noynoy Aquino restrain the commissioner please. After the fight, do Madam Henares what you're suppose to do.

NEWSMEN FRIENDS -- I am a fan of Rox Pena and Benjie Galang. I follow what they write. Rox unfailing concern for the environment must be appreciated. He is truly an environmentalist. He is also noted for pushing his advocacy in the Mabalacat City Council. I love to see him being picked as running mate of Reelectionist Mayor Boking Morales... He's the man! Is he the better Pangan? People of Mabalacat, particularly taxpayers, must apprediate what Benjie is doing. He is telling all and sundry what goes in the governance of the newly minted city. How each department functions and perform. He is a good material for the City Council.

ART TUGADE -- "That was irresponsible journalism," declared the hardworking Lawyer Art Tugade when it went around that he resigned as president of the Clark Development Corporation(CDC). "And please continue helping and supporting me in my desire for good governance."

Art may not be pleasant to many because he is not fond of big speeches and calls a spade a shovel but somehow he achieved something remarkable in his stint in CDC. A bit of unsolicited advice: Getting intriguing news and criticisms is part of the territory. Live with it while rendering service to the government. Don't be sidetracked.
