Sungduan: All wrapped up

CHRISTMAS is in the air in the City of Pines. Many now feel the spirit of a real and happy yuletide season with the series of exciting activities happening in the locality.

From the opening of Christmas Village at Baguio Country Club and Camp John Hay, the joyful celebration of the season of giving also officially started at SM City Baguio with the lighting of the mall’s Christmas Centerpiece on November 29 at Lower Ground Floor Exhibit Area.

Dubbed “All Wrapped Up” the centerpiece features a triad of picture perfect pieces, 14 feet high tree assembled with red and white Christmas presents, a golden sleigh with reindeers where Baguio residents and visitors can ride, and a cozy fireplace accented by a regal velvet chair.

Guest of honor and speaker City Administrator Atty. Carlos Canilao in his message lauded the efforts made by the famous mall for sharing such beautiful Christmas gift to the people which for him is a labor of talent and generosity.

“The spirit of love, the spirit of peace, ito ang mga pinaka-importante…. we should remember inside our hearts that there is the gift of love, peace, and sacrifice,” Canilao said.

SM City Baguio Assistant Mall Manager Rona Vida Correa said that the Christmas Centerpiece which is open to the public until January 9, 2016 is a beginning of a joyful season of giving and merry SM Christmas highlighted by spectacular fireworks display and more activities to make the children happy.

Meanwhile, a big crowd of spectators flocked to Session Road for the lighting of the giant Christmas tree at the rotunda which was immediately followed by a spectacular fireworks display and the colorful annual lantern parade by Saint Louis University on the evening of December first.

During the event’s program Mayor Mauricio Domogan in his message called on everyone to let the spirit of care and giving especially to the needy reign in their hearts.

The cold evening breeze that we experience at night only shows that indeed Christmas is just around the corner. May the joy that we feel whenever we see the different symbols for the celebration of the birth of Christ remind us of the true essence of the special occasion.

Also, may the organizers of Christmas activities in Baguio continue on giving the residents and visitors wonderful memories to remember. You make people happy with all the wonderful things you let them see.
