Capitol's medical, dental mission benefit 619 inmates

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Some 619 inmates of the Pampanga Provincial Jail benefited from the medical and dental mission on Thursday organized by the provincial government as part of the incoming 444th Pampanga Day celebration or “Aldo Ning Kapampangan.”

The medical mission was sponsored by the Provincial Health Office headed by Dr. Marcelo Jaohico with the cooperation and support of the chiefs of the 11 provincial and district hospitals run by the provincial government.

Provincial Warden Ret. Col. Edwin Mangiliman said the activity is done yearly because Governor Lilia Pineda "wants to secure the health and well-being of the inmates.”

“Nais lamang masiguro ng ating gobernador na si Governor Lilia Pineda lalong-lalo na ‘yung malusog na pangangatawan at inyong kalagayan dito sa loob ng piitan,” Mangiliman said.

Provincial Health Office Head Dr. Marcelo Jaochico said the activity in the jail was accomplished through the efforts of the doctors, dentists and medical personnel of the 11 districts and provincial hospitals, together with his own staff and the Provincial Malward.

Most of the detainees’ medical complaints varied from cough, fever, colds, asthma, skin allergy, acid pains, back pains and diabetes, while four detainees were advised to get a sputum test.

Tooth extractions were performed on the inmates who were suffering from tooth decay and cavities.

Proper medications were prescribed and provided to the detainees during the activity.

Jaochico lauded the governor for leading the entire province in a compassionate manner.

“Kami po ay pinamumunuan ng isang taong nagmamahal sa mga taong nangangailangan, lalong-lalo na ang mga mahihirap," he said. (Maribel U. Singca/Pampanga PIO)
