Alleged mastermind in Enzo Pastor slay arrested

THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested Thursday the alleged mastermind behind the killing of car racing champion Ferdinand "Enzo" Pastor in June 2014.

NBI National Capital Region (NCR) Regional Director Max Salvador said Domingo "Sandy" de Guzman was arrested around 7 p.m. in a hotel in Barangay Bukal, Sampaloc II, Dasmarinas, Cavite by the virtue of an arrest warrant issued on August 5 against him by a Quezon City court.

Guzman was arrested following a tip from a concerned citizen.

Salvador said the NBI had a hard time pursuing Domingo as he used several aliases to avoid being identified by authorities.

NBI Director Virgilio Mendez said de Guzman checked in at the hotel on October 28 and used the alias Dennis Gregorio. He renewed the contract for extension of his stay using another name.

From Cavite, de Guzman was immediately brought to the NBI general headquarters in Manila where he underwent booking procedure.

De Guzman along with Pastor's wife Dahlia, was identified by the gunman, Edgar Angel, as the brains behind the murder.

Angel gunned down Pastor along Congressional Avenue, Quezon City on June 12, 2014.

Pastor's family had offered P1 million bounty for the arrest of de Guzman and Dahlia, who remains at large. (Sunnex)
