DEFENDING champion Lady Knights Football Club (FC) retained its girls 16-under title by beating La Salle Zobel, 4-1, in the finals of the 20th Alaska Football Cup at the Ayala Abalang Country Club in Muntinlupa City recently.
The Lady Knights crushed ABC Naga All Stars, 5-1, in the semifinals to arrange a titular showdown with La Salle Zobel.
The Dabawenyas, coached by Ateneo de Davao University's Rachelle "Ching" Delos Reyes and Julio Orcasitas, subdued Aklan FC, 4-1 in the quarterfinals.
The champion team was powered by Joannah Marie Adao, Angela Bea de Luna, Chiyo Jan Marasigan, Patricia Erika Francisco, Felice Gabrielle Tuason, Althea Kate Villacencio, Rizzaline Francisco, Isabelle LovelieDuterte, KiannaBalunos, Beatrx Angelica Magno and Joyce Semacio.
Adao was also hailed most valuable player of the division that saw Davao City team Sakya Football Club (FC) as third placer.
Last year, Lady Knights eked out a 2-0 win over Minilua, Negros Occidental to capture the championship trophy.
