POLICE arrested a 60-year-old man who allegedly sold illegal drugs in his house in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City and hauled P1 million worth of shabu last Monday afternoon.
The house also doubles as a drug den, police said.
Senior Insp. Eunil Avergonzado identified the suspect as Renato Cruz, a resident of Veterans Drive in Lahug.
The operatives aof City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (Caidsotg), a unit headed by Avergonzado, also collared suspected junkies Noel Labra Suson, 47; Albert Bercede, 33; Jed Paulo Adolfo Arcayan, 18; Charlie Arda Ormilla, 21; and Christopher Facturanan Bohos, 24.
Two sachets of shabu, a Nubain ampule and drug paraphernalia were seized from them.
Recovered from Cruz during buy-bust were 36 small sachets and three big packs of shabu.
Cruz, in an interview in his detention cell, denied he is engaged in illegal drug trade.
“Mogamit ko, pero di ko mobaligya (I use drugs, but I do not sell),” he told reporters yesterday.
Avergonzado said arresting Cruz was a priority because the suspect sells illegal drugs near the street.
“His customers are habal-habal drivers, students and employees,” he said.
The suspects will face complaints for violating Republic 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
