Capitol hosts jobs fair for Kapampangans

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Provincial Government of Pampanga hosted a job fair on Tuesday as part of this year's celebration of the 444th Aldo Ning Kapampangan.

The Pampanga Provincial Information Office reported that some 629 job applicants flocked to the job fair at Benigno Aquino Hall organized by the provincial government in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole).

Public Employment Service manager Luningning Vergara said 14 local locators and six overseas agencies participated in the said activity.

About 49 of the job applicants were hired on the spot for local employment while some will undergo further interview from employers.

Vergara said the activity is part of the weeklong celebration of the 444th founding anniversary of the Province of Pampanga.

She also furthered that the provincial government is always conducting job fairs through the assistance of the Department of Labor and Employment Central Luzon (Dole-3) and Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA) to provide job opportunities to the Kapampangans.

Vergara said Governor Lilia Pineda “regards opportunities abroad only as an extension and that her priority remains with the local employment.”

Vergara added that the provincial government will provide necessary training to job seekers who failed to qualify.

Also present during the activity were Alex Insacruz, chief of the Technical Support and Service Division of Dole-3; Arlene Tolentino, Provincial Director of Dole Pampanga; and Edlyn Rivera and Director Joyce Sanchez from the Employment branch of POEA.
