Iloilo City mayor to appear at Senate inquiry

ILOILO City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog will appear at the Senate inquiry on Thursday at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol to shed light on the illegal drug situation in the city, following the alleged harassment on Aksyon Radyo-Iloilo last November 18.

Mabilog, through his lawyer Mark Piad, will present scientific data and evidences from the police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), barangay anti-drug councils, non-government organizations, and other agencies involved in illegal drug prevention.

The Senate inquiry will be headed by Senator Grace Poe as chairman of the Senate Committee on Peace and Order and Police Matters.

Senator Nancy Binay has filed a resolution seeking to investigate the alleged attack of drug groups in a radio station in Iloilo City.

According to the PDEA Western Visayas, the groups that allegedly attacked the radio station were headed by Melvin Odicta and Richard Prevendido, whose illegal groups were known to be operating in Iloilo.

Caught by security camera, some 20 armed men, who were headed by an idntified drug lord and a councilman, tried to enter the premises of Aksyon Radyo Station.

Aksyon Radyo-Iloilo has been very vocal about the presence of illegal drug trade in the city. (LCP/Sunnex)
