PDEA rewards almost P800,000 to 7 informants

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) gave Monday reward of nearly P800,000 to seven civilian informants.

PDEA Director General Arturo Cacdac Jr. commended the informants identified through their codenames: Maria Clara, Bruno, Asiong, Danger, Harvard, Black Mamba and Caltex, for providing anti-drug information that led to the seizure of illegal drugs and the arrest of drug personalities under the PDEA Operation: Private Eye.

The Operation Private Eye Rewards Committee, composed of members from the academe, non-government organizations, law enforcement, religious and business sectors, approved a resolution granting a total of P776,475.48 monetary rewards to the seven informants after a careful deliberation.

Among the informants, “Maria Clara” received the biggest reward of P248,742.73. Her information resulted in the confiscation of 4,379.3667 grams of cocaine and the arrest of two drug personalities during the implementation of a search warrant in Bel Air 1 Subdivision, Sta. Rosa, Laguna on October 8, 2015.

P128,037.41 was awarded to “Asiong” who provided information resulting in the seizure of 1,997.6 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, and the arrest of two drug suspects during an entrapment operation in Robinson’s Place, Malate, Manila on September 6, 2015.

“Asiong” was also rewarded with P22,360.42 after he supplied information that led to the seizure of 216.5 grams of shabu and the arrest of one drug personality during a buy-bust operation along Dasmarinas corner Yuchengco Streets, Binondo, Manila on July 7, 2015.

“Asiong” also received P46,285.16 by providing information that resulted in the arrest of two drug suspects and the confiscation of 501.1 grams of shabu during an entrapment operation in Plaza Sta. Cruz, Manila on July 6, 2015.

“Bruno” received P109,512 cash award after providing information that led to the seizure of 26,958 pieces of marijuana plants and 1,200 marijuana seedlings, as well as the arrest of one drug personality in Barangay Basiao, Badian, Cebu City on September 8, 2015.

A cash reward of P83,395.73 was given to “Danger” who provided information resulting in the arrest of one suspect and the confiscation of 1,011 grams of shabu during a buy-bust operation in E. Pantaleon Street, Mandaluyong City on August 28, 2015.

“Black Mamba” received P81,543.80 cash award after supplying information that led to the seizure of 996.9 grams of shabu and the arrest of one drug personality following a buy-bust operation in Anabu II, Imus, Cavite on June 22, 2015.

P43,378.98 was awarded to “Harvard” whose anti-drug information led to the seizure of 1,099.6 grams of shabu and the arrest of one drug personality during an entrapment operation along Seaside Boulevard, Pasay City on June 22, 2015.

“Caltex” was rewarded with P13,219.25 after he supplied information that led to the seizure of 139.15 kilograms of marijuana and the arrest of two drug personalities during a check point operation in front of Station 8, Baguio City Police Office on January 2, 2015.

“Community vigilance is vital in the implementation of the national anti-drug campaign. We need our local folks to be our eyes and ears in their barangay and let us know if there is an illegal drug activity happening around them”, Cacdac said.

The Operation "Private Eye" is a citizen-based information collection program designed to encourage the active participation of private citizens to report illegal drug activities in their communities. (SDR/Sunnex)
