Council to tackle proposed sports complex

THE City Council will continue to discuss today, Tuesday, the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the University of the Philippines and the Davao City Government on the proposed sports complex in the village of Mintal.

"I am hoping that the City Council will finally approve the proposed MOU tomorrow (today)," Councilor Bernard Al-ag said on Monday.

He said they will present to the council some amendments to the draft.

"The committee recommended amending the MOU by adding to the functions of technical working group the review and evaluation of the 1998 MOA," he said.

"The settlers also manifested that they will cooperate with UP and the City Government to come up with a compromise deal about their relocation and livelihood project," he added.

The council will also discuss the proposed total mining ban ordinance.

Based on the agenda for Tuesday's regular session, six items are to be approved under first reading, including the application of AprilSharon Development Corp. for development permit of the project Sharon Solar Homes in Barangay Catalunan Pequeño, Talomo District.

Meanwhile, two items are up for third and final reading -- the proposed memorandum of agreement (MOA) between National Development Company and the City Government on the establishment of Agri-Pinoy Trading Center and the proposed MOA between the city and the Latter-Day Saint Charities-Philippines relative to the wheelchair program.
