Capitol employees to receive extra bonus

THE Provincial Board unanimously approved Wednesday the resolution authorizing Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. to determine the additional bonus for the more than 2,000 employees of the provincial government of Negros Occidental.

Renelo Lastierre, president of Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees (Pace), thanked the board members for granting their request.

Lastierre said they will still meet with the governor to determine the amount for the additional bonus.

“We believe that the governor is pro-employees,” he said.

Lastierre said they requested for an additional bonus for the Capitol employees as the national government granted only a 14th month pay as productivity enhancement incentive (PEI).

“The PEI is not equitable especially for those in the lower salary grades,” he said.

Pace had earlier proposed a bracketing of the proposed bonus.

For those with Salary Grades (SG) 1 to 11, it will be P50,000; SG 12 to 20, P40,000; and SG 21 to 30, P30,000.

“We are hoping that these will be approved by the governor, processed and released as soon as possible,” Lastierre said.

Provincial Budget Officer Jose Percival Salado said there is a P70-million savings from unfilled positions. (TDE)
