‘Onyok’ likely to affect Negros

THE Provincial Disaster Management Program Division (PDMPD) warned Negrenses that Tropical Depression Onyok will most likely affect Negros Occidental because of its wide range.

“Onyok” will also bring heavy rains that's why some parts of the province has been experiencing rains the past few days, Dave Cuajao of the PDMP said.

Based on forecast, “Onyok” may make a landfall on Saturday and will be located near Bicol Region in the next 48 hours.

The Capitol has already alerted all disaster units in the province in preparation for “Onyok,” he said.

Cuajao said that residents in low-lying areas especially those along the riverbanks and coastlines are advised to always monitor the latest weather update and take precautionary measures.

Disturbance 97W (LPA) has developed into Tropical Depression locally named “Onyok” while traversing the southern part of the Philippine Sea.

Potential areas that will be affected are the eastern provinces of Mindanao beginning today. (TDE)
