TOP extreme runners from around the country overcame the challenging trails of Bantug, Campuestohan and Carmen over the weekend to capture top honors in the recently-concluded Salomon Bacolod X Trail Run 2015.

Romulo Balinas and Aicee Alonsabe conquered the male and female divisions in the 24K category as Ernie Catalonia and Felix Trespecious finished at second and third places for the male division. April Rubrico and Daisy Batac settled for runners-up honors in the distaff division.

In the 6K division, Dexter Galos topped the male side with Gerard Dacles and Salvador Subaldo in pursuit. Wheng Chang won the female category trailed by Camille Tad-y and Marie Tan.

The Salomon Xtrail run was aimed at educating participants not only on extreme trail running but also on wildlife protection with veteran runners Jojo Bonnin and Rose Pablico of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources sharing their views on the subject.

The event coincided with the call to save the planet due to climate change as well as protect and preserve our forests in Negros Occidental. It attracted some 230 runners from Bacolod, Cebu, Manila, Iloilo, Tacloban, Toledo-Cebu, Mabinay, and San Carlos City.

Running ambassador of goodwill Patrick Concepcion was among the participants in the 12K category.

The run organized by Blaire Ejercito was bankrolled by Salomon and R.O.X. (HGD)
