Alden, Maine ‘Yaya Dub,’ promote ‘My Bebe Love’ in Cebu

CEBU CITY—Popular and phenomenal on-screen love team, Alden Richards and Maine “Yaya Dub” Mendoza, have again outdone themselves by landing their first movie My Bebe Love, as their first Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry, together with two other veteran actors in the film industry.

After only five months of shaking love teams in the Philippines, “Aldub” has now gone from starring in Eat Bulaga’s “Kalyeserye,” to becoming movie actors working hand in hand with Vic Sotto, the MMFF King, and Comedy Queen Ai-Ai Delas Alas.

Having worked with the two youngsters, Sotto described working with them as a breather, especially with Maine, who has been in the industry for less than a year and having acted in the film without any prior workshops or past experience.

“Maine is a natural. Wala pa siyang mga preservatives, organic ang dating. She has a very healthy acting career ahead of her. Pag pinanood ninyo yung pelikula, makikita mo her talent in acting, pwede sa drama pwede sa comedy. This is her first acting project and I am very proud of her and I’m sure her fans and Aldub Nation would be very proud of these two guys,” shares Sotto during a press conference in Radisson Blu Cebu on Dec. 17, right before the cast went on a promo tour in SM Seaside City.

The cast immediately flew to Davao for another promo tour in SM City Davao on Dec. 18 after meeting Cebuano fans.

Being a first of many things, director and writer Jose Javier Reyes shared that creating and shooting My Bebe Love was very challenging.

“There is pressure to reinvent Vic and to really bring back Ai-Ai to the forefront as the real Queen of Comedy. And the expectation of the Aldub Nation, pati Twitter ko, ‘Direk kailangang may ganito, direk kailangang may ganyan, direk itong kailangang theme song mo.’ I know I will disappoint some because they already have something set in mind. They even have titles for the next movies that I should be doing with them (Aldub). You know that they mean well but the pressure is really great,” shares Reyes.

This much awaited movie is not only about Alden and Maine but also about a love team that has been brewing for a long time—at least in the film. They are dubbed “Aising” which stands for Ai-Ai Delas Alas and “Bossing” Vic Sotto. “We’ve worked before in Enteng Ng Ina Mo. Supposedly after that gagawin namin yung pangalawa, Enteng Ng Ina Nyo Rin at pangatlo, Enteng Ng Ina ‘Nyong Lahat.

Kayang-kaya kong pasayahin yan tsaka bwisitin at the same time. So, I’m happy that we’re back in each other’s arms,” shares Ai-Ai.
