5 people injured due to stray bullet

MANILA -- Four days before the New Year revelry, the number of stray bullet victims has increased to five in different parts of the country, Philippine National Police spokesperson Wilben Mayor said on Sunday.

Mayor said that as of noontime of Dec. 27, two people have been wounded in Zamboanga Peninsula and another each in Ilocos, Calabarzon, and the National Capital Region since Dec. 16.

According to Mayor, illegal firecrackers worth P603,681 were confiscated, while three persons, including two civilians, were arrested due to unauthorized discharge of firearms.

The PNP earlier called on the public to immediately report cases of indiscriminate gun firing, especially as the New Year celebration draws closer. (PNA)
