9 in 10 Filipinos hopeful for 2016 – Pulse Asia

NINE of ten Filipinos face the coming 2016 with hope, according to the latest survey of independent pollster Pulse Asia Inc.

Of the 1,800 respondents interviewed for the national poll, 89 percent said that they are hopeful about the coming year.

The survey, which was conducted from December 4 to 11, showed that only one percent of Filipinos said they would face 2016 without hope while 11 percent were undecided, the survey firm said.

The sentiment was highest in Manila (95 percent) and among Class ABC (92 percent).

Among the issues dominated the news during the survey period were the "tanim bala" or bullet-planting scam, the aftermath of the devastation of typhoon "Lando", the increase in the power rates of the Manila Electric Company, the drop in the prices of LPG products, and the pay hike among all government employees.

The survey has a ± 2 percent margin error at the 95 percent confidence level.

Subnational estimates for the geographic areas covered in the survey have ± 6 percent error margin for Metro Manila, ± 3 percent error margin for the rest of Luzon, and ± 5 percent for each of Visayas and Mindanao, at ± 95 percent confidence level each. (Sunnex)
