Fishing boat capsizes off Zamboanga City; 3 missing

TWENTY crewmen were rescued while three others were missing and feared dead when a fishing boat capsized offshore Zamboanga City, the police reported Wednesday.

The 20 crewmen were rescued by fellow fishermen onboard F/B Krisha Mari-4

Chief Inspector Joel Tuttuh, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) spokesman, said the incident took place around 11:30 p.m. Monday in between Tumalutab and Sacol Islands, east of the city.

The three missing crew of F/B Marlene-1 were identified as Roy Mula, 24; Raymark Sadio, 30; and, Jomar Montohen, 20. They were believed to have been trapped in the fishing boat.

F/B Marlene-1 is skippered by Romulo Carcueva Jr. and operated by Sanny Francisco of Sta. Maria village, this city.

Investigation showed that the vessel capsized after it was battered by big waves and strong winds while on fishing venture in between Tumalutab and Sacol Islands.
