Oro power firm: No blackout on New Year’s Eve

AN OFFICIAL of the Cagayan de Oro Electric Power and Light Company Incorporated (Cepalco) said on Wednesday that there will be ample power supply during New Year’s Eve.

Ralph Paguio, Cepalco senior vice president, said they do not expect any power interruption as the public celebrates and welcomes the New Year.

“As of the moment we have ample supply. Naa man ta major supply like sa NPC-PSALM. We hope they are able to supply us,” Paguio said.

Paguio said Cepalco was able to get power supply from independent power producers as part of its preparation against power deficiencies.

“Ang ato lang sa Cepalco is we are trying to supply power as needed within this period kay holiday season,” Paguio said.

“There are companies man pud nga tungod sa long holidays wala na nag-operate busa dili kaayo makagamit og power,” Paguio added.

But Paguio said it is best for companies that are continuing operations to shift production times and avoid peak periods.

Paguio said power usage usually peak at night and in the morning.

“Kung i-evade lang ang peak period sa mga companies sa ilang production it can contribute a lot in an efficient use of energy,” Paguio said.

Paguio also said the power utility has no scheduled maintenance work.

“Hopefully wala gayud power interruption pero kasagaran weather man gayud main cause but we are always hoping to get supply from other outside sources to cover short fall,” Paguio said.

However, Paguio said it is prudent to use energy wisely and efficiently and to refrain from using electricity needlessly.

Paguio said Cepalco will be manning its customer service desk for during the New Year’s celebrations.
