Cop found dead inside office in Davao City

A POLICEMAN was found dead inside a room of the Anti-Kidnapping Group Office along McArthur Highway in Dumoy, Davao City Wednesday evening.

The policeman was identified as Senior Police Officer 2 (SPO2) Percival Gabila Pasigna, 46, who hails from Malalag town in Davao del Sur, and currently assigned here with the Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG).

Initial investigation conducted by the Talomo police revealed that Pasigna was just sleeping at the AKG quarters. But when his colleague SPO2 Alfonzo Orbuda knocked the door several times to wake him up, the former did not respond.

Orbuda sought assistance from retired SPO4 Jeronie Genaro, who peeped over the window of their colleague's room, and saw Pasigna sleeping.

The alarmed Genaro and Orbuda forcibly opened the door and tried to wake him up but the latter failed to respond, prompting his colleagues to rush him to St. Felix Hospital in Bago Aplaya.

Pasigna, however, was noted with no vital signs and declared dead on arrival by attending physician. It was learned that the victim took medications for his hypertension before he slept.

According to the physician, the officer's possible cause of death was cardiac arrest. The cadaver of the policeman lies in state at St. Peter Funeral Homes in Toril. (ICT)
