Star Cinema rep fires back at Ai-Ai delas Alas over MMFF issue

"STAR Cinema's values are intact."

This was the response of Star Cinema's AdProm manager Mico del Rosario when comedienne Ai-Ai delas Alas refuted earlier claims that the movie "Beauty and the Bestie" already reached the P400 million mark.

Earlier this week, Star Cinema took to its official Instagram account to thank the moviegoers who supported the Vice Ganda and Coco Martin-starrer.

The film outfit also claimed the number 1 spot, which seemed to irk Ai-Ai.

The comedienne was quoted as saying, "In our hearts, sa puso ng AlDub Nation, sa puso ng sambayanang Pilipino, no. 1 kami. Kasi lahat ng ginagawa namin, walang daya."

She added: "Kahit ano pa ang sabihin nila, ilalaban ko nang pataya, itataga ko sa bato, kami po ang No. 1."

Delas Alas is part of the movie "My Bebe Love: Kilig Pa More!" opposite Maine Mendoza, Alden Richards and Vic Sotto.

Rosario, on his end, challenged the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) committee to release the final ranking and box office returns to prevent speculations on the figures.

"I challenge the MMFF committee to release ranking with gross. Tapos dun magsalita. Kapag may basis. Wag kasing emotional kapag nagsasalita, paganahin din ang utak," Rosario posted on his Twitter account.

"Tigilan na yang pagiging bitter. E di sabihin sa MMFF to release the rankings. Plain and simple. Tigilan ang speculations ng dayaan. Lakas maka-bobo ng approach," he said.

The Star Cinema AdProm manager continued: "Tigilan ang pagbibintang sa Star Cinema. Taun-taon kasali kami sa MMFF, ngayon daming binabato sa kumpanya. Ano nga bang nag iba this year? Sa Star ba may nag-iba?"

He also said that aside from Star Cinema's values, the film outfit also put high regards in honestly and integrity.

"Never nag-promote or nagmarket ang kumpanya namin na kinailangang manira ng kalaban. Naniniwala kami na produkto mo ang magsasalita para syo."

"Alam yan ng lahat ng taga rito or GALING dito. Never kaming may sinabi about competition because we always believe that competition also has something to offer to the market."

In the end, Rosario, without mentioning Delas Alas’ name, said, "you don't do that to people you have worked with and had (I’m assuming past tense because you just broke it) a good relationship with para mag-ingay lang."

Delas Alas left ABS-CBN in 2015. (Sunnex)
