Philpost unveils official memo 51st IEC stamps

POSTAGE stamp enthusiasts are getting a new addition to their collection.

This, after the Philippine Postal Corporation (Philpost) released the official commemorative stamps for the 51st International Eucharistic Congress, which will be held on Jan. 24 to 31.

Rachel Betos, Philpost Central and Eastern Visayas marketing officer, told Sun.Star Cebu that the commemorative stamps, which were officially unveiled last month, have been distributed to different post offices in Cebu.

Betos said that the creation of a commemorative stamp is part of Philpost’s commitment to the 51st IEC.

The stamp’s design features the official logo of the congress, which was designed by Jayson Jaluag, a 15-year-old student from Mandaue City.

The 51st IEC in Cebu is aimed to promote awareness in all Filipino Catholics on the importance of the Holy Eucharist in the Church.

In a press conference, Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma said that he was with Philpost Assistant Postmaster General Luis Carlos when they officially unveiled the commemorative stamps last month.

Palma said that this is not the first time that Philpost has created a commemorative stamp to celebrate official Church activities.

Philpost also made commemorative stamps during the beatification and canonization of St. Pedro Calungsod back in 2000 and 2012.

Philpost is set to print 104,000 copies of the stamps at P15 each.

The IEC is expected to gather 15,000 local and international delegates.
