AN OFFICIAL from the Davao City Drainage Management Unit (DMU) said that they are currently taking advantage of the summer months to clean the canals of flood-prone areas in the city.
In a phone interview, DMU chief retired Colonel Yusof Jimlani said he has deployed around 200 of his personnel for this task.
Jimlani said that one of the areas that they are cleaning and monitoring is La Verna Hills Subdivision in Buhangin.
"Nagapanglimpyo mi karon para kung mag-ulan-ulan na dili na kaayo mu grabe ang baha especially sa atong mga flood-prone areas (We are currently cleaning up canals to avoid floods in flood-prone areas)," Jimlani said. (Kriztja Marae G. Labrador)
