TOP players from the Misamis Oriental Camiguin Ginggoog El Salvador and Cagayan de Oro Regional Football Association (MOCA-GESCORFA) joining 11th edition of the Rosevale Football Festival will be selected to represent the region in the Festival of Football (FOF) on Feb. 5-7 at the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Training Center in Valencia Bukidnon.
Teams from all over Mindanao and the Visayas will join the 11th Rosevale Football Festival, this Saturday at the Xavier Estates football grounds Upper Balulang, Uptown. Trophies and medals will be at stake for the winners in the 9 and Under (Mix), 11 and Under (Mix), 13 and Under Boys, 15 and Under Boys, 17 and Under Boys, and 17 and Under Girls.
MOCA-GESCO formerly known as Cagayan Misamis Oriental Football Association (CMOFA) officers led by president Percy Guarin have decided to attend the Rosevale Football Festival to search for more talents to fill up the regional team to give chance to players who failed to come the open tryouts held last Saturday at the Westridge Sports Park football field in brgy. Carmen.
MOCA-GESCO will be sending one team each in the U-12 Boys and Girls (born 2004-2005), U-14 Boys and Girls (born 2002-2003) to the FOF three-day event which will be hosted by the Bukidnon Football Association (BFA).
Eighteen players in each teams will be selected for the boys teams while 16 players will make it to the girls teams. They will play against teams from Davao FA, Iligan Lanao de Norte Football Association (IFNOFA) and the host Bukidnon FA. The teams are expected to be in Valencia at 3 p.m. on the 4th of February. Coaches meeting will be at 5 p.m.
Opening ceremonies are at 7 am on the 5th of February while the skills test for the players is set at 730 a.m. Competition proper is in the afternoon and will continue the next day.
AFC license and NCCC qualified coaches from MOCAGESCO have been appointed to coach the teams. Wilbert Racines is coaching the U14 Boys, Wilfreu Dela Riarte the U-12 Boys, Ana Bangkil for the U-14 Girls and Lancy Francisco for the U12 Girls. Overall head of the coaching staff is Don Derequito. These coaches will join the Rosevale Football Festival as they also have teams competing in this annual tournament.
According to Guarin the teams will be finalized during the final trials set on the 31st of January at the Corpus Christi field also Uptown.
The FOF is a project of the PFF to identify young talents all over the country. The four national coaches in the U12 Boys and Girls, U14 Boys and Girls will come to Valencia to select the players for the national teams which will compete in the different age group tournaments this year.
Misamis Oriental province and particularly Cagayan de Oro is a rich source of talent for the national youth teams. Recently, Carlo Dorin, Jethro Borlongan, Greg Naquines, Joie Gaid Jr., Robert Wilson, Kenneth Guion have made it to the different national teams which have seen action in tournaments abroad.
