21 persons remain missing

TWO days after the Sinulog Grand Parade, 19 children and two senior citizens who joined the festivities with their families remain missing.

Acting Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella directed the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the City’s Department of Social Welfare Services (DSWS) to assist families who are still looking for their loved ones.

Some 24 children, aged 10 or younger, were reported missing on Sunday. Five of them were already reunited with their families yesterday.

The status of those who are still missing has yet to be verified, Labella said.

“May I please request your respective offices to coordinate with each other in tracing the whereabouts of the said missing children and senior citizens so that they can be reunited safely with their families,” he said in his letter to the DSWD director, CCPO chief and DSWS chief.

Coordination sought

In a separate interview, Chief Insp. David Señor, chief of the CCPO-Police Community Relations (PCR), said that only seven missing persons were reported to their office last Sunday.

They are Nora Mahasol, 49; Angel Rain Linasa; Stephen John Torion, 11; Lyndon Aying, three; Monica Cuyos; Noriel Tumbaga, six; and Lilian Angel Maglahos, 10. The CCPO-PCR has no information if they have returned home.

In an interview yesterday, Concha said they can assist families who are still looking for their loved ones.

She urged them to coordinate with their office so they can get details on the missing persons.
