Leni to spend more time in provinces if elected VP

SEEING the potentials of the provinces in the total development of the Philippines, Congresswoman Leni Robredo said she is willing to spend more time in the provinces if given the chance to become the next Vice President.

Robredo started to woo the more than 8,000 barangay health workers (BHWs) on Thursday to work with her in the province of Iloilo during the Barangay Health Congress held at the Iloilo Sports Complex in the city.

The health congress was attended by Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr., Congressmen Arthur Defensor Jr. of the third district of Iloilo, and Richard Garin of the first district, and Mrs. Judy Araneta Roxas, mother of presidential contender Mar Roxas.

Robredo said she is more inspired to work in the provinces as a legacy of her late husband, Secretary Jessie Robredo of the Department of Interior and Local Government.

She said she wanted to see the development in the countryside and a position like Vice President of the country is pregnant with many possibilities to empower her to lead these developments.

The congresswoman is set to travel around Panay Island with a first stop and overnight in Capiz province accompanied by Judy Roxas.

The itinerary also includes visits in Aklan and Antique provinces.

Leni said she will be back in Iloilo City by Sunday morning in time for the Dinagyang ati-atihan festival competition.
