AN EVANGELICAL pastor was wounded while his companion was unscathed in a gun attack in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported.
Chief Inspector Rogelio Alabata, Police Regional Office Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, disclosed the incident occurred around 10:35 a.m. Thursday at Sitio Maralag in the village of Guinless, Polanco, Zamboanga del Norte.
Alabata identified the victim as Pastor Rosando Torrino, 42, of the Light World Missionary Center, Inc., also located at Sitio Maralag in the village of Guinless, Polanco.
Alabata said that Torrino was driving a multicab with Tito Amayac as his passenger when shot by one of two men riding tandem in a motorcycle while they were entering Torrino’s compound.
The suspects sped towards the direction of Piñan town while the victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment, according to Alabata.
He said the victim informed the case investigator that he noticed a motorcycle tailing them while they were still in the village of Gulayon, Dipolog City.
He said Torrino ignored the motorcycle as he could not clearly recognize its driver and back rider.
Torrino also told the police that for several occasions from November until December last year they noticed a motorcycle with unidentified people aboard always passing in front of their compound.
Meanwhile, Alabata said Torrino believed the attempt on his life has connection to the legal contest between them and a couple involving the lot owned by their church. (Bong Garcia)
