Donaal is new NAPSSHI-CAR prexy

THE National Association of Public Secondary School Heads, Inc. -CAR has a new president.

Baguio City National High School principal Dr. Elma Donaal succeeded Dr. Rachel Bugtong, principal of Pines City NHS, in an election held during the NAPSSHI Congress at the Baguio City NHS Auditorium, April 16-17.

Other newly elected officers are: vice president-Feliciano Agsaoay Jr. (Kalinga Division); secretary, Brenda Cariño (Baguio City Division); treasurer, Rachel Bugtong (Baguio City Division); auditor, Daniel Peredo (Benguet Division); business managers, Oliver Tubiagon (Ifugao Division) and Marlene Abaoag (Abra Division); representatives are Mountain Province, Dionisio Wacdisen; Benguet, Alfonso Doriano; Ifugao, Arsenio Guinyang; Abra, Lorna Llaneza; Baguio City, Leticia Sab-it; Apayao, Francisco Tattao; Kalinga, Antonia Caling; and Tabuk City, Imelda Velo.

"Governance and Accountability for Basic Education" was the theme of the congress, which was participated in by head teachers, principals, division and regional supervisors, superintendents and assistant superintendents in the region.

Department of Education Cordillera Region has seven divisions each corresponding to its province. It has 298 public secondary schools: Baguio - 21, Benguet - 59, Kalinga/Tabuk - 50, Mt. Province - 63, Ifugao - 35, Abra - 35 and Apayao - 35.

Participants during the congress updated themselves on School-based Management and on Education Policies and Guidelines on Senior High School.

Speakers and their topics during the event were: Baguio Schools Division Superintendent Francis Cesar Bringas, DepEd Order # 7, s. 2015 - Hiring Guidelines for Teacher I Positions Effective School Year 2015 – 2016; Dr. Elma Donaal, NCBTS and School Management and Operation; Dr. Rachel Bugtong, Instructional Leadership; DepEd CAR chief Dr. Ellen Donato, K to 12 Updates on Senior High School; Francisco Copsiyan, DepEd Order # 8, s. 2015 - Policy Guidelines on Classroom Assessment for the K to 12 Basic Education Program; and Dr. Estela Cariño, Results-Based Performance Management System (RPMS)–IPCRF.
