AUTHORITIES arrested a self-proclaimed agent of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on suspicion of involvement in illegal drugs and possession of high-powered guns in Panabo City Thursday evening.
Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Davao Region, in coordination with the Panabo City police, served the search warrant around 7:40 p.m. against the suspect identified as Raffy Tabudlong, alias Hero, a resident of Purok Ramihan, Barangay Datu Abdul in Panabo City.
Seized from Tabudlong's possession were three sachets of suspected shabu and two sachets of suspected cocaine.
Confiscated firearms including two caliber 22 rifles with scope, one airsoft M16 replica, .45 caliber pistol, 38 revolver, ammunition from .45 caliber pistol, .38 revolver, M16, and other drug paraphernalia were also seized from the suspects.
Superintendent Thor Cuyos, Panabo police chief, said they have yet to confirm if Tabudlong is indeed an NBI agent.
"Dili pa na sure kung connected siya sa NBI pero mao na iyang paila diria (We are not yet sure if he is really connected with the NBI but he introduced himself as one to his neighbors)," Cuyos told Sun.Star Davao in a phone interview Friday afternoon.
Cuyos also said that Tabudlong is just a transient resident in Panabo City.
"He is from Marawi City," Cuyos said in the vernacular.
Multiple charges are set to be filed against Tabudlong including violation of the Republic Act (RA) 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and violation of the RA 10591 or The Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.
Tabudlong is currently detained at the Panabo City Police station.
