A plaza for every palate

PLAZA Pino has expanded, not in terms of size but in its various sections offering food and drinks. What used to be parking space for restaurant guests has become a dining area with an outdoor ambiance achieved through its many colorfully lighted artificial palm trees that give it a fiesta atmosphere.

One side of the Plaza already has Pino Pizza and at the other side, Kalderohan (the latter’s specialty is serving local favorites like kalderetang kambing and balbacua). At the center is a new structure called Croissants and Wines, with a glass-walled wine cellar, at the back of which is a mini-plaza that also serves as dining space.

The wine cellar, says Pino’s chief executive officer and business partner Joel del Prado, is for wine tasting, as well as for private functions. Croissants and Wines will be selling croissants and pastries, yet its opening has been postponed due to delayed stock delivery. Croissants and Wines has an 80-seater roof deck which is already available for functions or for the spillover crowd from the restaurant, the pizza place or from Kalderohan. The open roof deck has been made comfortable with a giant fan.

What can be had in the mini-plaza, says del Prado, are any of the favorites from Pino Pizza or from Kalderohan and eventually from Croissants and Wines, or even from the restaurant itself, whenever there is an overflow of guests. Or one can opt for the specialties of this particular section, unlimited chicken wings in three flavors (lemon butter, teriyaki or chili) or Louisiana style half-a-kilo Shrimp Ahoy, which is mildly hot and pleasantly sweet. To go with this, one can order unlimited rice.

Del Prado says all kinds of drinks are available: sodas, beer, rum or whatever else one may fancy. And speaking of drinks, the water served in all of the food places in the Pino complex is Kangen water, alkaline water which is reputed to be good for the health.

An added attraction to the place is an acoustic band that plays every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Plaza Pino is definitely a nice place to dine and unwind.
