AN IMPROVISED explosive device (IED) rocked Tacurong City in Sultan Kudarat two hours after the convoy of Liberal Party (LP) vice presidential bet Leni Robredo left the city on Tuesday afternoon.
The bomb exploded around 2 p.m. near the national highway along Jose Abad Santos Street in Tacurong City. Three people were reportedly wounded.
Police investigation showed that the IED was placed inside a vehicle that was parked outside a pharmacy along the national highway.
Camarines Sur Representative Robredo was in Tacurong on Tuesday, February 2, as she was the guest during the city’s celebration of the Feast of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria.
She also urged all security forces to conduct immediate investigation to determine who were the perpetrators responsible for this incident.
Robredo remained optimistic that the explosion incident will not hinder the efforts initiated by the government for the long-sought peace in Mindanao.
