A WOMAN was found dead at a sugarcane plantation in Barangay Buenavista, Murcia town, Wednesday night, February 3.
Police identified the fatality as Elsie Enriquez, 36, a local resident.
Senior Inspector Lawrence Gerald Bathan, town police chief, said police were still waiting for the result of the autopsy to determine the cause of the victim’s death and whether she was sexually abused.
The victim sustained multiple hack wounds.
Bathan said the victim failed to come home that evening after she went to a nearby village.
They have yet to identify her assailants, he said, though they have already interrogated two possible suspects who were spotted at the area before the victim’s body was found.
“We have no solid witness to place these suspects at the scene of the crime,” he said.
Police have yet to establish the motive behind the incident.
