Iya Villania, Drew Arellano keen on having baby in 2016

SHOWBIZ couple Iya Villania and Drew Arellano are planning to have a baby sometime this year.

In an interview with Villania on Tuesday at the "Lip Sync Battle Philippines" press launch, she said they are planning to expand their family and continue their respective showbiz work.

Villania, who co-hosts the new show with comedian Michael V, is currently appearing in afternoon series "Because of You," headlining lifestyle program "Taste Buddies" with Solenn Heussaff, and is the showbiz correspondent of Chika Minute segment of "24 Oras."

She said Arellano has not articulated his disapproval on her busy schedule amid trying to start a family.

"For as long as nakakauwi ako sa bahay, kaya. I think kaya naman. Gagawan ng paraan... magbibigay ng oras,” she said. “He just wants me to enjoy, to pace myself. Kapag andyan na yung baby, I'll be aware and be more sensitive on my body. Pag na-feel ko na delikado at hindi kaya, then I'll say something. Pag dumating na tayo doon.”

Villania added that "Project 2016,” or having a child this year, is very much on track and they are both excited for what’s in store for them in the future.

"I don't think anyone is really ever ready (for motherhood), but I am excited," she said.

She also does not regret not having a baby right after their January 2014 wedding because it gave them enough time to adjust and build a foundation for a lasting marriage.

"The adjusting period e na-enjoy namin. Whether we like it or not, there's a different stress, there are different challenges that having a baby or having a child can bring. It allowed for us to enjoy time together, to adjust with the living in together before we added that challenge of having a kid," she said.

"You still get to stay your own person. I think it's (work) healthy that way. There's so much time to revolve around each other. It's still easy to do especially if you still don't have a family kasi pag may pamilya ka na, mag-iiba na yung priorities e. As of now, habang kaya, go parin. Drew is supporting me," Villania added.

As for doing more shows on GMA-7, Villania approves of everything except doing drama.

"I did it (before)... last na yun. I find it very stressful and it doesn't come naturally for me. I prefer to do something that is more natural. Acting is really not my forte, it's really not my thing, but this time I really, really enjoy it (comedy). This is the first time that I felt this way about acting," she said. "There are actresses out there na mahal talaga nila ang pag-arte at payag sila to put their selves in certain situations to improve. Ako, I've tried that and it stresses me out. Hindi maganda sa health and sa disposition ko in life. So if I have an option, dito na ako sa acting that keeps me happy."

She said she is just grateful for the four shows, including "Lip Sync Battle Philippines," which is set to premier on February 27 on GMA-7.

"Alam mo naman sa industry na ito e, ngayon apat tapos baka sa December wala. I just really want to enjoy it for as long as I can," Villania said. (Sunnex)
