THE Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has yet to determine the cause of the fire that hit Maranatha Christian College-High School and Christian Academy School at Villa Soledad, Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City last Wednesday.
At least 12 students fainted during the fire started at the stockroom of Maranatha Christian College-High School Department.
Superintendent Rodolfo Denaga, city fire marshal, said Friday that they are still gathering evidence to determine the cause of fire that started at 11:12 a.m.
The blaze reached the adjacent building of Christian Academy School, destroying its library and damaging two classrooms.
The fire quickly spread because the stockroom was full of documents, and the buildings were made of light materials.
Denaga said they could not yet confirm if the incident was triggered by an electrical failure because the stockroom was an abandoned area.
“We are given ample time to investigate and to gather evidence,” Denaga added
The BFP will check the fire safety compliance of the schools in the city to avoid fire incidents, he said. (MAP)
