Davao City opens proposals for LED streetlights

DAVAO City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte said that they are now receiving proposals from companies who are interested to partner with the city to change the current sodium street lights into LED lights to cut expenses on power consumption.

“We are now receiving proposals regarding the LED lights but those investors will have to talk with Davao Light and Power Company first,” Duterte said in the vernacular.

He added that they are currently inviting investors who are interested since to exchange the lights of the streetlight as the city is paying estimated 2,000 per month in each streetlight post monthly, “Dako kaayo so dapat atong gipanaugan kay dako kaayo ang gasto (That is too costly that is why there is a need to lower its cost),” Duterte said.

He added that a Brazilian company has already presented its proposal to the city and to Davao Light.

“Dili man ang city ang mugasto ana, ang sa city kuryente gamit (The city will not be spending on that. It will only pay for power consumption),” Duterte said.

He said he is interested in the Brazilian offer as the installation being offered includes a rainfall gauge. (KVC)
