A TOWN official was killed in an ambush in a remote village of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Tuesday.
Chief Inspector Rogelio Alabata, Zamboanga Peninsula Police Regional Office (PRO) information officer, said the incident took place around 8:15 a.m. Monday, at Sitio Beverly in the village of Timbabawan, Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay.
The victim was identified as Reynante Sardan, 46, a resident of Purok Santol in the village of Gaycon and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer of Tungawan.
Investigation showed Sardan was driving his motorcycle on the way to his office when gunmen ambushed him along the provincial road in the village of Timbabawan.
Alabata said the victim died on the spot.
Chief Superintendent Miguel Antonio, Zamboanga Peninsula police director, has ordered a thorough investigation of the killing.
Antonio has ordered to look into all possible motives in a bid to determine whether Monday’s incident was related to previous incident of killings in the town of Tungawan.
