CSC junks Ebreo case vs Gasataya

THE Civil Service Commission (CSC) Western Visayas has dismissed the appeal of executive assistant Reynaldo “Butch” Ebreo against Bacolod City Vice Mayor Greg Gasataya for illegal dismissal.

In an order dated February 5, 2016, CSC Director IV Rodolfo Encajonado ordered to dismiss Ebreo’s appeal for lack of merit and even affirmed Gasataya’s memorandum order dated November 20.

Ebreo had appealed before the CSC-Western Visayas the issuance of an order, declaring the memorandum issued by Gasataya on November 20, 2015, dismissing him from his post, as null and void and to order the latter to immediately reinstate him to his former position.

He was terminated on November 23, 2015, a week after Gasataya assumed as acting mayor.

Ebreo, who believed that he was terminated without just cause and due process of law, also prayed that Gasataya be ordered to pay him his back wages and other benefits due him, and also P100,000 in moral and exemplary damages.

He was appointed by Puentevella as executive assistant I on July 1, 2013, and was assigned back as head of the Bacolod City Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) after Mayor Monico Puentevella resumed office last February 15.

Puentevella was suspended for 90 days by the Sandiganbayan where is he is facing a graft case.

Ebreo, in an interview with ABS-CBN Bacolod, said he cannot comment on the development yet as he has not received a copy of the order.
