A POLICEMAN was arrested in a drug bust conducted by agents of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Negros Island Region (PDEA-NIR) at Barangay Hawaiian, Silay City Sunday afternoon.
The subject of the operation was Police Officer 1 Reylan Durdas, 26, of Capiz Provincial Police Office.
Investigation Agent V David Mark Maramba, operations division chief of PDEA-NIR, said the policeman-suspect sold a sachet of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for P500 at around 1 p.m.
Maramba said that Durdas resisted arrest, but they were able to subdue him.
When arrested, the suspect also yielded a sachet of shabu weighing five grams with an estimated market value of P16,000.
Maramba said that Durdas was reportedly discharged from the service last year after facing a drug charge. They still need to verify it, he said, adding that Durdas told him that he still has an ongoing appeal for reinstatement.
Durdas, who is detained at Silay City Police Station, will face charges for sale and possession of illegal drugs.
