Espina: PAL, ‘Home In The Sky’

PHILIPPINE Airlines (PAL) celebrates its 75th founding anniversary with its newest international link, Cebu-Los Angeles which starts March 15. During the presscon, Ryan Uy, vice president-sales and Harry Inoferio, senior assistant vice president –sales, Philippines, said that “Cebu is the big hub of PAL, with some 75 daily routes Manila-Cebu, with more than 100 connecting flights!”

Chris Lebumfacil, who has been with PAL during the best years of his life, expressed his joy that Cebu, at last, will connect with Los Angeles directly. PR 122 - CEB-LAX departs Cebu every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, at 6:25 p.m. and arrives in Los Angeles at 5:55 p.m., local time. Then PR 123 LAX-CEB leaves Los Angeles for Cebu on the some days at 8:40 p.m., local time and arrives in Cebu at 4:40 a.m.

Our national carrier, PAL, offers friendly amenities and comfort, a “Home in the Sky!” We all know the warm and skillful services of the staff from boarding to long or short-haul travel to arrival at our point of destination. “Home is where the heart is!” and perfect destination is “Cebu, where the heart sings!” More state-of-the-art aircraft and facilities are coming in due time.

Alexander Harisson of GMR-Megawide affirmed the efforts of the Mactan Cebu International Airport to augment its capabilities to serve more tourists.

PAL president Jaime J. Baustista, in a press release, said that this newest PAL service will enable more passengers to avail themselves of many travel options. The PAL Cebu hub also includes Cebu to Nagoya, Osaka; Navita and Seoul (Incheon). Are Paris or Rome in the offering? How about New York?

The best of Pino

Hats off to Joel del Prado who could easily be called the Food Entrepreneur of Cebu. (Paging Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry!) One of our favorite places to dine in is Pino, over at Lahug, Cebu City, whose ambiance and food have catered to the varied Filipino taste. Even gourmet lovers, overseas Filipino workers, tourists coming from the various parts of the globe look forward to Pino’s lunch and dinner buffet at very affordable rates. We love its lechon, seafood and vegetable salads, paella, sotanghon mix, chicken relleno and native delicacies for dessert. Hmm, truly delectable!

The Pino Plaza had undergone a state-of-the-art renovation, expanding its wine cellar and lounge, pizza area, dining area and videoke–sing-along, among other new services. The place is best for meetings, conferences, birthdays, fellowships, meriendas with family or friends. The courteous and competent staff of Pino spell a lot of difference.

Donna’s new album

Who would ever forget the love songs made popular by Donna Cruz, like Kapag Tumibok ang Puso? She has a new album, Now and Forever, produced by Star Music. The family had a grand launch of the record, nationwide and worldwide, with preview at Pino recently. Congratulations! We look forward to many of Donna’s guestings to promote her album. Donna’s rendition of fast and slow music is soothing, with so much passion which sensitizes many music enthusiasts.

I watched her transform from a cute, chubby (when she won in a singing tilt years ago), pretty singer, to a lovely and gracious lady, who has captured the hearts of many Cebuanos. Guess, the tender loving care of husband, Dr. Yong Larrazabal, (merong ‘forever’ talaga!) inspired her a lot. Cheers on your new album!
