Vice mayors' league conducts medical mission in Silay City

THE Vice Mayors' League of the Philippines (VMLP)-Negros Occidental Chapter conducted its regular medical mission in Silay City with more than 600 beneficiaries last April 26 at the public plaza and the Sen. Jose C. Locsin Cultural and Civic Center.

Silay City Vice Mayor Mark Andrew Arthur Golez, president of the league, said their activities included medical examinations from pediatrics, children, adult and the elderly; circumcision, dental, haircut, and therapeutic services, and feeding program.

The medical team was composed of personnel and staff from the Provincial Health Office, Silay City Health Office, Talisay City Health Office, Victorias City Health Office and other private medical practitioners, and the Philippine Army.

The Silay vice mayor said this medical mission is a continuing program of the league which started in 2005 when the organization launched their first mission in Barangay Bata Bacolod City.

Under the current leadership of Golez, successful outreaches were made in municipalities of Candoni, Ilog and Hinoba-an. More than 2,000 constituents have already benefited from various medical assistance of the league.

Helping Golez actively spearheading their year-round activities are other officers of the VMLP-Negros Occidental chapter, namely,

Vice Mayors Nilo Jesus Antonio Niel Lizares III of Talisay City- vice president; Greg Gasataya of Bacolod City-secretary general; Felix Feria IV of La Castellana-treasurer; Delia Anacan of Kabankalan City-auditor, Victor Gerardo Rojas of Murcia-PIO; and

Edgardo Quisumbing of San Carlos City, Narciso Javelosa, Jr. of Sagay City, Reynaldo Depasucat Jr. of E.B. Magalona, Nicholas Yulo of Bago City, Carminia Bascon of Himamaylan City, and Ma. Gina Lizares of Sipalay City-board of directors.

The funds utilized for the undertaking was raised by the league during its Annual Governor's Cup Pana-ad Festival Golf Tournament, with the support of Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., Vice Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, 3rd District Rep. Alfredo "Albee" Benitez, municipal and city mayors and other local government officials, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor), Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT), Hawaiian-Philippine Company, and other private companies.
