Mayor: Prepare for economic boom

MAGALANG -- Mayor Romulo Pecson said the Municipal Government is preparing for the impending economic boom in the Metro Clark area.

The reelectionist mayor said that local officials are anticipating the spillover of economic progress in Clark and the adjoining cities of Angeles and Mabalacat.

"Our town will benefit from the spillover of economic boom in Clark Freeport considering the proximity of Magalang to Clark," Pecson said in the vernacular.

The natural resources of this first-class agricultural town will attract investors and tourists, according to the mayor.

Former Mayor Lyndon Cunanan, Pecson's runningmate who is now running for vice-mayor, said they are planning to strengthen the town’s further agro and eco tourism.

The local government is now in the process of registering sweet tamarind as the town’s main produce under the One Town One Product (OTOP) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), according to him.

Cunanan said Magalang is now being recognized as a tourist destination because of its popular restaurants, wellness and recreation centers, and others.

Both Pecson and Cunanan said that Magalang still have open spaces for tourism and industrial complexes.
