Lawyer Romulo L. Aguila, Jr., BIR-Davao regional director in a press conference at the BIR office Davao Wednesday presented the bureau’s priority projects this year to continue its effective tax collection campaign.

He emphasized that this year’s target is even more challenging at over P20 billion, some 41 percent higher as against the P15.8 billion target last year.

All of the BIR province and city office’s collection showed an upscale trend, for East Davao, tax collection for 2015 (P5.6 billion) is up by 19.1 percent as compared with 2014’s P4.7 billion collection, West Davao (P4.362 billion) increased by 11.8 percent as compared with 2014’s P3.9 billion, Tagum City (P2.713 billion) increased by 17.7 as against 2014’s P2.305 billion.

Newly-appointed Davao City Revenue District Officer (RDO)-113 West district Simplicio V. Cabantac Jr. in an earlier report said that BIR is continuing its goal through proper implementation of the bureau's programs, one is this Oplan Kandado, and the Run Against Tax Evaders program, among others.

Meanwhile, the BIR-Davao Region kicked-off Wednesday its intensified tax campaign program this year encouraging taxpayers to file their income tax returns as early as March 30, 2016, two weeks before the set deadline on April 15 to avoid penalties and system congestion.

This year, the bureau will continue to implement the online tax filing as it is already mandated.

BIR-Davao Region for 2015 major accomplishments are closure of 45 establishments under the Oplan Kandado Program, BIR-Bureau of Customs joint operation on untaxed/smuggled cigarettes, joint BIR-Business Bureau tax mapping operations of dorm and boarding houses and inventory of stock-taking.
