A POLICE officer got wounded after an unidentified person shot him in a drug entrapment operation at Block 8, Chinese Relocation in Barangay Canitoan, Cagayan de Oro City, on Thursday night.
The operation resulted to the arrest of certain Abdulah Bantu-as, 42, resident in the area, while the wounded police identified as Senior Police Officer 1 Michael Daleon belongs to the City Anti-illegal drug task force (CAIDTF).
Bantu-as was caught delivering and transporting two pieces sachet believed to contain “shabu” to a police's confidential informant in the presence of the arresting officers.
After the arrest, police conducted a body search on the suspect and recovered from custody a caliber .45 pistol loaded with a magazine with six pieces live cartridges in it.
When they were about to leave the area, a shot was heard and Daleon declared he got hit.
Daleon was shot at his lower abdomen and the bullet exited at his lower right thigh.
He was immediately brought to the nearest hospital and now on stable condition at press time.
Meanwhile, the suspect denied his involvement of selling illegal drugs.
Bantu-as said he was asked by his neighbor, which he refused to name, to deliver the sachets and was surprised when he was arrested.
“Gihatagan ko niya og armas kay sa ako daw protection and akong gihatod kay malouy man ko, natingala na lang ko kay gidakop nako,” Bantu-as said.
Bantu-as admitted it was the third time her delivering sachets to a client, but denied he is pushing nor using illegal drugs.
“Ang ako gayud trabaho is ga-lending gyud ko gikan pa sa Barra hangtod nagbalhin ko sa Canitoan,” Bantu-as added.
Suspect was temporarily detained at Maharlika Detention Center while charges for violations of Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act are up for filing.
