Franchisors urged to tap government workers

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) 7 is inviting the franchising sector to reach out to government employees so they too can build business.

DTI 7 Director Asteria Caberte said now is the right time to tap government employees for any franchising business because of the recent salary hike endorsed by the government.

President Benigno Aquino recently signed Executive Order No. 201 that raises the salary of government employees.

The Salary Standardization Law (SSL4) increases the salary of about 1.6 million government workers by an average of 27 percent.

Caberte strongly recommended that government employees buy franchise businesses because they have a proven track record and are already tried and tested.

“Franchising is the best business strategy for government employees to consider when looking for potential business to invest in, also because it has fewer risks,” she said.

Likewise, the region’s DTI chief also invited the franchising experts to extend their business expertise to the agency’s Negosyo Centers and present franchising as another alternative business for micro and small entreprenuers to consider.

Caberte said franchising experts are also welcome to share business tips to Cebu’s growing entrepreneurs.

The Philippines is considered the most successful country in Southeast Asia in terms of franchising, with 1,300 established franchisor companies, whose growth in franchise business are spread across the country.
