Neda lauded for approving P7.2-B Clark airport funds

CLARK FREEPORT -- Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) president Emigdio Tanjuatco III has expressed gratitude to the National Economic and Development Authority (Neda) for approving the P7.2 billion budget passenger terminal in Clark International Airport (CRK).

Tanjuatco at the same time expressed gratitude to Representative Joseller Guiao (Pampanga, 1st dstrict) for supporting the development of the Clark Airport.

"The officers and employees of CIAC thank Neda-ICC [Investment Coordination Committee] and Congressman Yeng Guiao for their continued support for Clark Airport development," Tanjuatco said.

"We are grateful for the support given by Congressman Yeng Guiao and NEDA-ICC as well as the support of the local government units, the regional development council and the province of Pampanga," the CRK official added.

"The national government, through the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) recently appropriated P1.2 billion for the airport's improvement and this is an indication its support," he said.

Neda approved the initial phase for the P1.2 billion low-cost carrier terminal project.

Tanjuatco said the LCC was designed by the French firm Aeroport De Paris commissioned by the DOTC.

The facility can accommodate 15 million passengers annually.

"The initial phase of P1.2 Billion LCC project is set to be presented before the Neda Board meeting for discussion next week and it would be taken up before President Aquino for approval," he said.

"Once the president approves it, hopefully the bidding for the project will start by the middle of this year," Tanjuatco added.

The budget terminal is expected to boost the development of Clark airport and attract more airlines and investors to operate at the 2,367-hectare civil aviation complex, he said.
