THE City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) started distributing food packs as an immediate help to 96 families affected by fire at Purok 13-B and Purok 21, Kasilak Riverside, Barangay 76-A in Bucana, Davao City Tuesday afternoon.
According to CSSDO emergency focal person Maria Luz Farañal, each food pack contains 10 kilos of rice, five sardines and five noodles for each family.
She added that non-food items such as boiling pot, frying pans, towels, underwear, T-shirt, blankets, mosquito nets and mats were also given to the fire victims.
The fire totally damaged 46 houses, partially damaged four houses, and affected 96 families with 234 dependents.
The estimated damage caused by fire reached P8,043,000.
Farañal added that they will go back to the area after two days to add rice rations and to also deliver assistance along with the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
"Kanang 10 kilos magdugay paman na sa ila. After two days mag-deliver napud mi sa assistance ugang DSWD (The 10 kilos they will not consume it immediately so after two days we will again deliver assistance with the DSWD)," Farañal said.
She added that papers for the financial assistance are also on process.
Farañal said that the fund for the financial assistance will be sourced from the Crisis Intervention Fund of the City Mayor's Office.
