Morales tops Ipolls survey

MABALACAT CITY – Reelectionist Mayor Marino Morales has stretched his lead over his three rivals in the mayoralty race in a recent survey among 3,200 respondents in 27 barangays here.

The survey indicated that Morales of Aksyon Demokratiko is still the man to beat in the upcoming polls.

The eight-day survey conducted by Ipolls research group from March 3 to 10 showed Morales’ firmed grip on the top slot with 55 percent or 1,760 of the total number of respondents.

The incumbent mayor was followed by former Vice Mayor Noel Castro with 21 percent or 672 respondents.

Board Member Cris Garbo of Kambilan bagged 19 percent or 608 respondents while Pyra Lucas had three percent or 96 respondents.

Two percent or 64 respondents were undecided.

In the trust rating survey conducted by the IPolls Research Group on 3,360 respondents last January, Morales garnered 63 percent or 2,117 of the respondents.

In the January survey, Morales was followed by Castro with 25 percent or 846 respondents.

Garbo and Lucas landed in the third slot with 213 or six percent and fourth slot with 79 or two percent respectively.

The IPolls Research Group did not focus on the winnability of the candidates but rather on their acceptability by the electorate.

Guiao’s rival Carmelo “Jonjon” Lazatin, Jr. got 32 percent or 1,076 respondents. Some 253 or eight percent of the respondents were undecided.
