UNA supporters jailed for occupying town hall in Lanao Norte

KAUSWAGAN, Lanao del Norte -- The 37 supporters of the United Nationalist Alliance in Lanao del Norte who broke the main entrance glass door of Kauswagan town hall on Monday have landed in separate municipal detention cells in the province.

Police Senior Superintendent Madid Paitao, provincial police director, told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro by phone on Tuesday morning that the supporters of Casan Maquiling and Florante Capitan were neutralized by the police with the support of the military.

Paitao said the supporters were escorted by the police and brought to the different detention cells in Kauswagan, Bacolod, Maigo and Kolambugan towns since they cannot be accommodated in the provincial jail located in Pigcaranga in Tubod town in Lanao del Norte.

Lawyer Dean Quijano, one of the legal counsels of Mayor Rommel Arnado of Liberal Party, filed a sedition case against the 37 political supporters.
