Young Davao's Designers Runway Show

LAST March 12, the region’s premier shopping and lifestyle destination – SM Lanang Premier mounted a runway show at the Atrium to highlight Davao’s new breed of fashion designers and fresh fashion pieces for women.

The city’s 15 emerging designer’s hail today’s women with their respective collections and differing aesthetics. Featured designers include Andi Amora (Mûre), Bianca Sabellano (Be.young.ca), Wilson Limon (Niño Franco), Jozel Ignes (Zel), Frances Tendencia (Haberdashery), Jun Artajo (Artajó), Ian Manglicmot (The Skip), Mandy Velasco (Amanda), Denise Guirgen and Kethley Uy (Artickles), Joey Hambala (Inpart), Grand Ravacio (Ravacio), Shiriel Magalong, Jude Suarez, and Mo.

Staged in celebration of the 79th Arawng Davao and the International Women’s Month, the “Young Davao Designers” fashion show intends to share with the public the creative flair and limitless potential of up-and-coming Davaoeño designers while also giving women exciting wearable outfits to choose from.

The featured 30 fresh fashion pieces gave Davaoeños, drool-inducing items that are just so eye-catching you can’t wait to purchase one.

The collection showcases lust-worthy designs, ultra feminine clothes, for the sort of woman who thrives in a fast-paced growing city like Davao, mixed with a downtown chic and made with the finest fabrics, definitely style setters.

While New York -- much like London, Paris and Milan -- can be a merciless city for budding designers, Davao designers, act as an important reminder that our young fashion designers are our industry's future and thanks to SM Lanang Premier, who has provided support and inspiration for a new generation of fashion geniuses, offered a venue for them to develop their creativity.

It has inspired and encouraged a shifting of attitudes towards a better way to redesign our fashion future.

While the unpredictability of the industry is unsettling, one thing is certain: we need to nurture the next generation of designers to keep cities like Davao or Mindanao alive.

They set the agenda, coming together with young stylists and photographers to turn raw talent into real success. Credits to Ms. Tere R./Davaolife.com for the pictures
