MORE than P2 million worth of financial assistance are set to be distributed to fire victims in Davao City next week, an official said.

Davao City Social Services and Development Office Head Maria Luisa Bermudo said on Friday that they are only processing the documents needed for the release of P2,048,000 cash assistance.

“Ang second batch kadtong sa March 10, karon pa nagawas payroll from the office, ang first batch naa pa kay Atty. Jesus Melchor V. Quitain, wala pa napirmahan (For the second batch from March 10 fire, we just released the payroll from the office today and the first batch is still at Atty. Melchor V. Quitain, and it was not signed yet),” Bermudo said.

According to CSSDO emergency focal person Maria Luz Farañal there is possibility that the first and second batch will be released simultaneously on Tuesday.

After Quitain's signature, the financial assistance will still have to go through the scrutiny of the City Accountant's office and other city offices. She added that 69 house owners, 25 renters, two sharers, and six boarders from the first incident at Purok 13-B, and Purok 21 last March 8, 2016 will receive a total of P829,000 worth of financial assistance.

Victims of another fire incident at Purok 12, 12-A, 12-B at St. John Bucana will also receive a total amount of P1,219,000 worth of the financial assistance.
