CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Provincial Government of Pampanga has allotted a total of P36.8 million for 4,247 beneficiaries of its Educational Financial Assistance Program.
The beneficiaries received the assistance during the distribution Wednesday, March 23, at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center. A total of P15.5 million was allotted for the second semester of the current school year.
Governor Lilia Pineda called the scholars as the next generation of leaders and the key to the province’s success and stability.
“Isa sa inyo ang papalit sa akin bilang gobernador, kayo ang kapalit namin. Nasa kamay ninyo ang kinabukasan ng Pampanga, kayo ang susi sa patuloy na pag-unlad ng probinsya (One of you will take my place as governor, you [youth] will take our place. Pampanga’s future is in your hands, you are the key to the province’s continuous growth),” the governor said.
Third district Board Member Rosve Henson told the beneficiaries of the provincial scholarship program to repay the assistance provided to them by studying hard and striving to become productive and law abiding citizens.
"You can show your gratitude by engaging in worthwhile socio-civic organizations and be part of our campaign against illegal drugs and the protection of the environment, among others," Henson said.
The Capitol previously released P21.3 million for 5,226 beneficiaries during the first trimester.
“Pangarap namin na lahat ng kabataang Kapampangan ay magkaroon ng magandang buhay dahil ‘pag maunlad ang buhay ninyo, maunlad din ang probinsya, (We dream of a bright future for the Kapampangan youth because when you become successful, it means the province is successful as well),” Pineda said.
The governor was joined by other Capitol officials, namely, Board Members Cris Garbo and Cherry Manalo of first district; Board Members Arthur Salalila, Anthony Joseph Torres, and Salvador Dimson Jr. of the second district; Board Members Ferdinand Labung and Henson of the third district; Board Members Ricardo Yabut and Nestor Tolentino of fourth district; and Ex-officio Board Members Michael Tapang of the Councilors’ League and Atty. Gerome Tubig of the Association of Barangay Captains.
